Actor and dancer Nora Fatehi has tested positive for COVID-19, as per a statement issued on her social media. The 29-year-old is under quarantine and said she has been bedridden for a few days, having "reacted badly to it." A statement from her team further mentions she is consulting a doctor and co-operating with Mumbai's Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for safety regulations.

"I am working on recovering at the moment that's all that matters right now. Nothing is more important than your health," Fatehi said in her Instagram story Thursday.

Fatehi, who most recently appeared in songs Kusu Kusu and Dance Meri Rani, is notably named in a fraud case involving Sukesh Chandrashekhar for which she is being questioned by the Enforcement Directorate. Get latest updates on that case here.

The statement from Fatehi's team, referencing certain photos of her that are doing rounds allegedly showing her out and about, says the visuals are old and that "Nora has stepped nowhere out recently."

Fatehi joins a string of Bollywood celebrities who have been struck by COVID-19 as fears mount of an impending third wave with a rising caseload. Earlier this week, the Kapoor family - Arjun, Anshula, Rhea - were reported to be positive for COVID-19. Actors Kareena Kapoor and Amrita Arora have only recently recovered from the virus. Tight curbs have been enforced in Mumbai in the wake of the festive season. Section 144 has been imposed in the city till January 7 and as per a police order, New Year's parties in pubs, restaurants and resorts are deemed punishable. The regulations come amid Mumbai witnessing a drastic COVID-19 surge and recording 85 cases of the highly transmissible Omicron as of Wednesday.
