The trailer of the upcoming real-life based film 200 Halla Ho was released on August 5, revealing that the film will narrate the story of 200 Dalit women's fight for justice against a molester and rapist. The Amol Palekar starrer is set for an OTT release on August 20.
Actor Rinku Rajguru plays a lead role in the film and joins the fight for providing justice to the women who faced molestation and harassment by a gangster and his men for more than 15 years. The trailer also reveals that the film will deal with the loopholes of the system which allows criminals to get away with their atrocities.
"Why shouldn't I speak about caste, sir, when we are repeatedly reminded of our status," Rajguru said in the trailer of the
movie.
The rape accused gangster is played by Sahil Khatter plays in the movie. His character was attacked by 200 Dalit women in open court. The film also stars Barun Sobti, Saloni Batra, Indraneil Sengupta and Upendra Limaye.
According to a report by The Indian Express, Director Sarthak Dasgupta said, "This is not a film for me, but a shoulder that I give to the movement towards social equality. I need to convey to the audience that women should be treated equally and that Dalits’ lives matter too."
He added that 200 Hallo Ho is about those Dalit women who despite getting socially marginalised and molested, had to take law into their own hands to punish the person who was guilty of ruining their lives. Palekar plays the role of a senior lawyer fighting in support of the Dalit women in the movie.
Dasgupta concluded that he hopes his film will add voice to the social changes that are so needed in society. The film which will also address whether the women who attacked their molester was right or wrong will release on August 20 on Zee5.
