The woman used her family name Lin in court documents and identified the bedroom of her residence while watching the series Heart to Heart Dialogues in September 2019. A year later she saw that certain scenes of the series About is Love also contained shots of her villa. She added their names in the 2019 suit she had filed in the local court.

The villa that is based in Cixi, Zhejiang was bought by Lin in 2014 according to The Paper. Reportedly the crew of the two series did not only use her bedroom. The entire villa was used and over 60 scenes were shot. The suit also mentioned that damages including broken glasses and a broken elevator were noticed in the villa.

Since Lin was based in Hangzhou and used the villa as a holiday home, the villa was reportedly being managed by a property company. During her absence, several shoots took place in her residence without her knowledge. In the suit, Lin demanded compensation of one million yuan for occupying and damaging her property without her knowledge along with infringing her privacy. The court rejected the latter.

The court ordered a compensation of 400,000 yuan to be paid by the property management company and the two producers of the series. Lin’s lawyer stated they were not happy with the verdict and will appeal it.
