Telangana Promotes About 53 Lakh Students From Classes 1 to 9 Without Examination

The announcement was made by the state's education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy. Besides this, the government has also called for a summer vacation for school students from April 27 to May 31.

This development comes after the Telangana government reviewed the worsening COVID-19 situation in the state. The announcement was made by the state's education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy. Besides this, the government has also called for a summer vacation for school students from April 27 to May 31. Director of School Education, Syed Omar Jaleel on Sunday informed all Regional Joint Directors of School Education and District Education Officers about the same. They have been told to ensure that all the schools and junior colleges remain shut during this period. Also, the education minister added that the decision to reopen schools and junior colleges will be taken on June 1.

Telangana government to postpone class 12 final examinations

Earlier, the Telangana government had decided on promoting only 5,21,392 students from class 10 (from SSC board), without conducting any examinations. However, they will be evaluated on the basis of an objective criterion which will be decided upon by the state's SSC board. They had also decided on postponing the Intermediate, or class 12 final examinations.

The decision regarding the class 12 board exams will be taken in the first week of June after the COVID-19 situation is reviewed.

Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi announce summer vacations for school children

In Andhra Pradesh, summer vacations for classes 1 to 9 started from April 20 itself. A similar decision to prepone the summer vacations has been made by several states such as Rajasthan, Haryana, and the capital city Delhi. This has been done in a bid to curb social gatherings as the COVID-19 situation is growing worse throughout the country.
