Schools in Delhi Were Supposed To Shut From May 11 till June 3

Earlier, the summer vacations were scheduled for from May 11 to June 3, but will now commence from tomorrow.

During the summer vacations, the heads of schools can call the vacation staff for any kind of work, provided that everything is followed as per COVID-19 protocols. All the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will have to be followed by them. However, the staff called for duty during this lockdown period will be eligible for a credit of earned leave as per CCS leave rule, the DoE stated.

Schools in Delhi were earlier directed to suspend physical classes and start online classes for the new academic session starting from April 1.

Schools in Delhi were earlier closed in March last year which happened before the nationwide lockdown was announced by the prime minister. Subsequently, as the COVID-19 situation eased out, schools for classes 9 to 12 were reopened for practical examinations and remedial sessions.

Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi has called for a six-day lockdown from 10 pm tonight to 5 am next Monday. This is because Delhi is reeling under the pressure of the COVID-19 crisis with 30% positivity rate. Only the essential services will be allowed to function during this lockdown period.
