NIOS Postpones Class 12 Exams: The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has now cancelled the board exams for class 10 and postponed the class 12 board exams. This decision comes after students made a demand to cancel both the class 10 and 12 exams.
“The Public Exam in Theory & Practical of Secondary courses scheduled in June 2021 are hereby canceled and the Public Exam in Theory & Practical of Senior Secondary & Vocational courses scheduled in June 2021 are hereby postponed till further order," the National Institute of Open Schooling tweeted via its official Twitter handle.
NIOS is yet to announce the new dates for class 12 exams
As for the class 12 exams, the NIOS is yet to announce the new dates. It said that will release an update about it, at least 15 days before the commencement of the exam.
Meanwhile, NIOS has said that it will be working on developing suitable criteria to evaluate class 10 students, and accordingly prepare the results. It also added that since the NIOS is a distance education school it won't be possible to go for a continuous assessment mode, which is being utilised by other boards. However, it assured that it will come up with an assessment mode that is suitable to all of its students.
On May 17, the board had declared the results for the Asha Certificate Program. The examination for the same was held on February this year.
The overall pass percentage of the program stood at 85 per cent. However, states such Sikkim, Chhattisgarh, and Himachal Pradesh secured a pass percentage of 100 per cent.
Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh board stated had also decided on cancelling the class 10, and postponing the class 12 exams. This decision was made after the government carefully reviewed the COVID-19 situation across the state.
The board is yet to announce the dates for the class 12 exams, and said that it will do so at least 20 days before conducting them.
