On Thursday, The University of Mumbai announced that it has extended the application for PhD Entrance Test (PET) by one week. Students can now register for their entrance exam till January 28.
Previously, the deadline for registration was March 31, 2020, but the process had been delayed due to the pandemic. However, Mumbai University will be conducting the PhD entrance test (PET) 2020 on February 28, 2021.
An official statement by the university has directed the candidates to apply for the entrance before the deadline. Only aspirants who could not register in 2020 are required to fill the application.
Reportedly, around 6,512 students registered themselves for the test, out of which 3,340 were in the science and technology department whereas 1,691 were from the faculty of humanities. Moreover, 1,148 candidates registered themselves from the commerce and management department.
The Mumbai University received more than 320 registrations for the M.Phil entrance exam. Additionally, 500 applicants from other states had also registered themselves for the exam.
Several Educational institutes were affected since March last year following the outbreak of the deadly novel coronavirus. This also jeopardies the possible chance of many aspirants as it was not possible to conduct exams amid the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with the extension in the registration dates, PET 2020 is likely to witness a higher number of registrations from applicants of different departments.
