One of Netflix’s most popular shows of 2023, The Diplomat has been renewed for season 2. The British political thriller is created by writer and producer Debora Cahn, famous for shows like Grey's Anatomy and Homeland.

The Diplomat stars Keri Russell, David Gyasi, Rufus Sewell, Ali Ahn and Rory Kinnear in pivotal roles. The show follows Kate Wyler, the newly appointed US ambassador to the UK who has to navigate the international relations and political challenges in London and improve her marital life.

Who Is Debora Cahn?

Debora Cahn is a famous American producer and writer who started her career in 2002 as a producer and writer for the political drama The West Wing. She was a part of the show from season four to seven. A graduate of Columbia University's Barnard College, Cahn holds an acting master's degree from Harvard University's Institute for Advanced Theater Training. Cahn has worked on many popular shows as a writer and executive producer like Homeland, Private Practice, Grey's Anatomy, Vinyl and Fosse/Verdon. She has even written a movie titled Paterno that was released in 2018 and starred Al Pacino.

Cahn has won many nominations for her work including a Primetime Emmy nomination and Writers Guild of America Award nomination for The West Wing and Grey's Anatomy. She has two Writers Guild of America Awards in her name, one for Best Adapted Long Form Television for her 2019 miniseries Fosse/Verdon and second for the episode from the fifth season of The West Wing, The Supremes, in 2005.

Cahn recently signed an overall multi-year deal with Netflix under which she is currently serving as the showrunner of The Diplomat. The eight-episode-long season one of the show got a good reaction from the audience and they are expecting a lot from Cahn and her show for the second season as well.
