UP Teacher Asks Students To Slap Classmate, Sparks Row

A Muzaffarnagar teacher was seen in a viral video asking school kids to slap a Muslim classmate, using communal slurs, sparking outrage. Police have asked social media users not to share the video, prompting various users to remove it from their accounts

A school teacher of a private school from UP's Muzaffarnagar was caught on camera asking students in her class to slap their Muslim classmate upon not learning mathematics tables, using communal words against the religion, reported The Indian Express.

The incident sparked wide outrage after the video went viral on the internet. Many celebrities and politicians spoke about the video, while the boy's father refused to pursue the case against school authorities any further.

The incident occurred at the Neha Public School in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar where a teacher is seen asking a kid to hit and slap a Muslim kid, while the latter stands there frozen, close to tears. The teacher is identified as Tripta Tyagi.

Later in the day Priyank Kanungo, Chairperson of the National Commission for Protection Of Child Rights, took to the microblogging site ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) asking social media users not to share the video.

'In Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar, the incident of a teacher getting a child beaten up by other children in the class has been reported." he noted.

“Taking cognizance, instructions are being issued for action, everyone is requested not to share the video of the child, give information about such incidents by email, do not become a part of the crime by revealing the identity of the children," he added in his tweet.

Satyanarayan Prajapat, Superintendent of Police on X (formerly Twitter), said that they have spoken to the principal of the school about the objectionable comment of the teacher in the video and have also asked the Education Department to take action against the teacher. 

Meanwhile, the father of the boy told reporters that he won't be pressing charges against the school or teacher as they have made a compromise with school authorities. He said that the school authorities had returned the fees of the student that he will not be sending his boy to this school anymore, and that he does not want to pursue the matter further anymore. 

The video has sparked massive outrage on the Internet with politicians and celebrities including Rahul Gandhi, Swara Bhaskar, and Prakash Raj expressing their concerns upon the video. 

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi posted on X, writing 'sowing poison of discrimination in the innocent minds of children in a place as holy as school and turning it into a market of hatred is the worst a teacher do for the country'.

Whereas actors like Swara Bhaskar, and Prakash Raj question humanity and nation in their Tweets. While Swastika Mukherjee, Renuka Shahane and many others spoke about the video on social media as well.
