In the petition by actor Juhi Chawla on the 5G technology roll-out case, the court had originally imposed Rs 20 lakh fine on her and the case was called frivolous and filed for publicity purposes. The case was being heard by Justices Vipin Sanghi and Jasmeet Singh on the remark made by the judge on the 5G case petition by Chawla and the fine imposed. The Delhi HC justices removed the remark that Chawla was being frivolous and sought publicity. The Justices Sanghi and Singh noted that the case filed might have been to support a genuine cause but the petitioners lacked the legal knowledge and thus were unaware of the implications.

The bench said, "We reduce the cost from Rs 20 to 2 lakhs. We are inclined to retain the part of the cost since we do find that the application moved along with the plaint particularly those under 149 and 8 CPC were completely wrong. Ms Chawla has appeared before us and volunteered that she would work with DSLSA in whose favour the cost had been awarded and which now reduced to 2 lakhs to advance the cause of deprived children and women who are in need of legal aid."

On January 25, Tuesday, the court had talked about the probability of reducing Chawla's cost provided she volunteers in some public work that involved DSLSA.

Last year, in June, the Delhi High Court had imposed the costs on Chawla and two others. The court had observed that the suit was filed to garner publicity as Chawla had circulated the link to the hearing on social media. The actor had filed the lawsuit against the rollout of 5G as "defective" and called it "abuse of process of law." Justice JR Midha dismissed the suit as the questions raised on the health hazards due to 5G was "not maintainable" and "stuffed with unnecessary scandalous, frivolous and vexatious averments."
