Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, and Naomi Campbell were the influencers of their day- fans flocked to see them in person, the fashion shows they featured in would be sold out, and they held sway over a fashion industry that, at the time, was exploitative of their female models. Apple TV+'s new four part documentary series, "The Supermodels," promises us a glimpse into their lives like we've never seen before.

The Supermodels

Apple TV+'s new documentary series, "The Supermodels", focuses on four figures central to the American zeitgeist during the 1990's- supermodels Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, and Naomi Campbell. The 'Fab Four', as they were known then, defined their field- they were the first of their kind, making the concept of the "supermodel" a real thing. The four-part documentary series traces their journey right back to the 1980s, when the four of them, as young women, first started modeling in New York. The four-part docuseries follows their journey as supermodels through the 1980s and into the 1990s, documenting the highs, lows, and cultural moments made during their career, like artist George Michael's "Freedom '90" music video that featured all of them.

The docuseries will give us an insight into what the fashion industry looked like during the 80s and the 90s, and how these four women forged a path unlike no other before them, opening doors for the supermodels of our day, like Gigi Hadid and Anok Yai. The trailer of the docuseries poses a question before us- what is a supermodel? By interviewing fashion magazine editors, experts of the fashion industry, and the four supermodels themselves, the documentary series is set on giving us an answer, and sharing with us a glimpse into the world of the fashion world 90s from the view of its creators- Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, and Naomi Campbell- themselves.

"The Supermodels" releases on September 20, 2023 on Apple TV+. Watch the trailer here.
