The officer dialed an emergency number with a faux complaint of armed robbery to test the response of the local police. To your surprise, the test was passed by cops. Usually, this becomes unbelievable as policemen in Uttar Pradesh are reportedly known for their negligence.
The inspector is identified as Charu Nigam, an IPS (Indian Police Service) officer and Superintendent of Police, Auraiya. A video of her went viral in which she wore civvies and used her dupatta, sunglasses, and mask to hide her face from her subordinates. IPS Nigam dialed 112, an SOS number that gets in touch with the police control room. Police are supposed to reach the spot within five minutes as the emergency line promises. She made a fake armed robbery complaint and pretended to be a victim of it.
Nigam on call in a high-pitched voice said, "Hello, this is Sarita Chauhan. I was robbed by two armed men.” The three policemen responded to her call and reached the spot with a team.
On reaching, the officers took the woman's complaint and made their inquiries. The team continued with the further process and checked vehicles for an hour. Later, it was revealed to them that the complainant was their senior officer.
The police tweet claimed that IPS Nigam wanted to check the “response time” of the local police and found it “satisfactory”.
Although the video on twitter has received mixed reactions. For a few it was inspirational, but a few found it scripted.
A user wrote, "50 rupees should be deducted from the salary of every employee who was involved in this Play. Although, Charu Nigam seems a very delegant officer, I don't know who gave her this idea."
Another user wrote, "She should Focus on the complaint's received against cops & listen to the complainants. That's how she will exactly know what's going on in the district. Such dramatics with camera persons are obsolete ideas & is becoming a habit with IPS officers in UP, to seek undue attention."
A third user wrote, "Jab desh ka PM oscar level ki acting krta h toh ips/ias bhi manikchand filmfare award level ki acting toh kr hi skte hai."
