Colleen Lee and her ex-boyfriend met through mutual friends in 2015 and hit it off. She agreed to give him one of her kidneys a few months later. He cheated on her again a few months later. Le has been sharing her experiences on TikTok and is finding solace in the outpouring of support. Her recent video received more than 13 million views.
Colleen Lee's narrative was told in a series of TikTok videos. "Hope my kidney is doing great things," she captioned the first video she shared in July 2020, alluding to what had transpired five or six years prior.
Her ex-boyfriend, according to Lee, said that he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease at the age of 17 and has been on dialysis since then because his kidney function was less than 5 per cent. Lee got tested to check if she was a compatible kidney donor, since she didn't want to see him die. She ended up donating one of her kidneys to her ex-boyfriend when the results revealed she had a "perfect match" kidney.
Lee received a text message from him seven months after the surgery, informing her that he would be travelling to Las Vegas for a bachelor's party with his friends. He went to Lee's house a few days later to confess to her that he had cheated on her in Las Vegas and sought her forgiveness. After forgiving him and giving him another chance, the ma broke with Lee three months later, reportedly claiming, "If we are meant for each other, God will bring us back together in the end." Lee didn't name her boyfriend publicly.
It's been five years since they last spoke. According to her TikTok videos, she has been dating someone else and is happy with her boyfriend.
According to a report by Insider, the woman stated that "what's done is done," and that she knew what she did was "life-changing." She also doesn't mention him in her TikTok videos because she's aware of "how crazy the internet is" and doesn't want anyone to track him down.
The woman went on to say that she saved someone's life, which she couldn't take back, so she doesn't regret anything she did. She also shared that she learned from some of their friends that he got married, which she was happy about. She wishes him the best.
