Iranians Knock Turbans Off

Young Iranians are now videoing themselves removing the clerics' turbans as protests over the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini go on in their country. Several videos showing school-going boys and girls kicking clerics' turbans and fleeing as part of the continuing anti-hijab rallies have gone viral on social media.

In one popular video, a young child is seen chasing after a cleric as he walks along a street that is almost completely vacant and kicking his turban off. The cleric could be seen bending down to pick up his turban as the girl kept fleeing without pausing to glance behind her.

The video's commentary stated, "Removing the turbans of clerics has turned into a form of protest after dictatorship killed hundreds of innocent protestors."

Another video showed a priest retrieving his turban from the middle of the street. The caption of the photo said, "Removing the clerics' turbans has become a daily ritual for Iranian youths."

International anxiety over Iran's response to the protests has grown, and this particular manifestation of disrespect for the nation's religious establishment coincides with it.

The clergy who have ruled the nation since 1979 have come under fire from the people as a result of Amini's death in custody. Clerical authorities said that the continued demonstrations threatened the security of the Islamic Republic.

Security personnel fired shots and beat students who disobeyed the Revolutionary Guards' ultimatum and the president's warning as the protests over Iran's tight dress code entered their seventh week.
