Recently married, Annie and Gourav spoke to SheThePeople and shared how they embody values of equality and companionship in their relationship, finding joy in both shared moments and individual pursuits. Their story is a testament to the enduring power of love and commitment, reminding us that true connection knows no boundaries.

Here’s their story in their own words

"Gourav and I met in college on February 18, 2021. We began conversing on Instagram and eventually exchanged numbers. After about a month, we met for the first time.

At that time, I was living in Gurgaon, while he resided in Amritsar. Gourav and I maintained a long-distance relationship for two years. We would often meet over the weekends since I am from the same town. I eventually started searching for work-from-home opportunities and secured one in Chandigarh.

Both of us were seeking something long-term in life and felt fortunate to have found each other. Despite Gourav's concern about ageing at 26, we decided to move forward as our thoughts aligned.

Our families were supportive right from the start, despite our different backgrounds. Some past experiences had affected my mental health, but being with Gourav brought immense happiness. Witnessing this, my family had a positive impression of him and expressed a desire to meet him.

Adding a twist to the story, I was the one who proposed to him, and he joyfully accepted, making me the luckiest girl. We tied the knot in the presence of our loved ones.

Despite our diverse backgrounds, Gourav and I believe in equality in our relationship. While we both have jobs, we also enjoy cooking together. Having a supportive partner makes the journey smoother.

We are approaching our third month of marriage, yet being with Gourav feels like a lifelong connection. Although there are challenges along the way, our mutual trust and willingness to stand by each other only strengthen our bond with each passing day."
