According to archival archives, Isidor Straus did not board a lifeboat since there were still many women and kids on board the Titanic, which was sinking after hitting an iceberg. He was joined by his wife, and the two of them stood arm-in-arm until the ship capsized.

According to some sources, Ida Straus gave her maid her mink coat as she was being rescued in a lifeboat.

The Tragedy

The Titan submarine, which set out for the Titanic disaster site in the Atlantic Ocean at a depth of 12,500 feet, lost touch after nearly two hours on Sunday. Emergency oxygen supplies for four days are available on the submarine.

Meanwhile, rescuers sent more ships and vessels to the region where Titan vanished on Wednesday (local time), hoping that the underwater sounds they had heard for the second straight day would help focus their search in an increasingly critical effort.
