In January 2023, allegations of sexual assault began circulating in social media. A Twitter user accused him of sexual assault and claimed he pursued sexual relationships with minor girls as young as 13 when he was between the ages of 17 and 20.

Percy Hynes White Responds To Allegations

The now-deleted Tweets accused Hynes White of sexually assaulting her at a party he hosted. The user also accused him of pressuring and assaulting her friends. Other Twitter users added to the allegations and accused the actor of using racial slurs.

Many fans of Wednesday took to social media and rallied to have the actor removed from the show in light of the allegations.

Almost six months after the first allegation was made, Percy Hynes White responded to the allegations. He took to his Instagram account and shared his statement regarding the sexual assault allegations.

Hynes White stated that the "campaign of misinformation" about him was started by someone he had "never met". He added that due to the allegations, his family had been doxxed and his friends were receiving death threats.

The actor also added that his friend Jane was "falsely portrayed as a victim" and that her attempts to "set the record straight" were ignored. He also clarified that he had Jane's permission to be included in his statement.

Percy Hynes White added that the sexual assault allegations against him were false. He wrote that he could not accept being portrayed as a bigot or criminally negligent of people's safety.

The actor proceeded to call the allegations "baseless" and "harmful" and said that false claims could create mistrust towards survivors.

Hynes White thanked the people who stood by his side and asked for the harassment against his family, friends, and coworkers to stop.

Percy Hynes White played the role of Xavier Thorpe on Wednesday and previously starred in the series The Gifted.
