US Model Attacked By Dog Shares Images Of Lip Reconstruction Progress

Brooklinn Khoury, a 23-year-old model who was attacked by a dog in the US and lost her lip, has shared photos of her recovery. In 2020, Khoury was attacked by her cousin's pit bull, and she required six cosmetic procedures to rebuild her smile. She recently uploaded a series of Instagram pictures to document her transformation.

Khoury was out with her cousin and her pit bull in 2020 when the dog bit her. In 2021, she recalled this to People, "I was like, 'You're such a good boy.' He literally leaped up onto my face from a sitting position. He literally just sprung up while I was standing and he was sitting. He literally had his arms and legs hanging off of my lip. And my initial reaction was, "Oh my God, go down with him, hold his head, and follow him wherever."

She claims she still finds it difficult to look at the upsetting Instagram pictures of her after the attack, which show her without a top lip. She wrote in a post, "I don't expect anyone to comprehend, because how could you? I experience a certain emotion when I look in the mirror that I find difficult to describe. It seems as though a stranger I've never met has replaced my physical appearance."

After the attack, she underwent six surgeries to get a new upper lip, some of which took 20 hours. To create a brand-new upper lip that is fully functional, the doctor used skin and nerves from her arm.

"If you had told me a year ago that I'd have the smile I do now, I wouldn't have believed you. While looking for the surgeon I currently have, I had lost a lot of hope. It's been such a difficult yet lovely process. In my life, I have a lot to be thankful for. This is a reminder to trust the process. Timing is crucial," she said in a different post.

Although she is almost fully recovered, she will likely need another surgery later this month.
