After splitting from actor Johnny Depp in 2016, Amber Heard dated Elon Musk from 2016 to 2018. She lost a defamation case against the Pirates of the Caribbean actor earlier this year, and the judge ordered her to pay him $10.35 million. At the trial, Musk was supposed to testify, but he chose not to do so, either in person or virtually.

Many Twitter users have questioned whether her previous relationship with the billionaire is connected to his takeover of the social media site due to the rumours surrounding it. Former TMZ employee Morgan Tremaine, who provided testimony during Heard's legal battle with Depp wrote," Hmm looks like someone didn't want their ex-boyfriend to have access to their account and DMs." Another user wrote, "I really want to believe that deleting Amber Heard's Twitter profile was one of the first things Elon asked about when he took over."
