The visually appealing trend went wrong for a woman. A woman ended up in the hospital with second-degree burns after attempting the viral 'boiling water into ice' trend. Worst part, even after getting injured, she gave the trend another go.

In a video shared by Dailystar on Instagram with the caption, “The woman ended up going to hospital to treat the burns.” The outlet further reported that undeterred by the mishap, the woman had tried the trend again the following day.

The video begins by showcasing an ice-covered outdoor setting. Moments later, a woman steps into the frame, holding a kettle. She strikes a pose for the camera before attempting the popular trend.

However, instead of the boiling water transforming into mist as expected, a portion splashes back onto her. The scalding water causes her to collapse to the ground in visible pain. Some users noted she should not have poured the water over her head.

This phenomenon is called the Mpemba Effect in which, under certain conditions, hot water freezes faster than cold water. This seemingly paradoxical observation has puzzled scientists for centuries and was named after Erasto Mpemba, a Tanzanian student who famously observed the effect in 1963.

Funnily enough, it was an ice cream that made him notice this phenomenon! Mpemba was in a physics class when he noticed that hot ice cream mix would freeze faster than cold ice cream mix.

How far do we go for some mere likes or popularity? Where do we draw the line? Are we too ignorant to get our golden ticket to fame? Will we ever rise above this shallow practice? Every time such aberrant incidents come out, these questions may surface in our minds. Only a few days back, it was reported that a woman in India was so engrossed in shooting reels, she did not pay attention to her little son who was saved by a passer. Another incident came out of a woman who fell out of a moving train after getting hit by a tree while she was recording a reel.
