Anant Nath, Editor of The Caravan, tells us more about the need to talk about gender inequality... and the motivation behind The Bridge.

"India ranks 130 out of 155 in the Gender Inequality Index, behind all other countries in South Asia, except Afghanistan. From a gender perspective, India's performance is much below the South Asian average on most development indices. Gender equality is therefore not just a social imperative, but an economic one as well since it is well proven that gender empowerment favours overall economic development. We need to therefore come together and work for what is overdue to us as people. It is our responsibility to bring together those voices of the nation who will project reality as is and are a facilitator for sustained engagement on addressing crucial issues that will lead to an equitable and a more empowered nation."
