A smart city uses digital technologies or information and communication technologies to enhance quality and performance of urban services, to reduce costs and resource consumption, and to engage more effectively and actively with its citizens. As part of the Digital Women Awards, Tourism Spain is selecting two women to travel to some of its smart cities. These destinations are an effort to converge travel and technology in a seamless way. The UN has gone to the extent of saying smart cities are safe cities and inherently promote gender equality.
We speaks with Tourism Spain Director Ignacio shares on what these cities offer to the modern traveller.
