Selvamari's Story:
28-year-old Selvamari has become a high school teacher at Vanchivayal School in Idukki district. One would wonder what is so special about this feat? Well, there are years of struggle involved behind achieving this feat. Throughout childhood,  she used to work in cardamom plantations during holidays with her mother. She was also dealing with a lot of personal problems, as per a source. For instance, her father abandoned her family including her mother and two sisters during her childhood. She started working in cardamom plantations due to the same reason. She was really passionate about completing her education, pursuing a career and supporting her family.

More about her

She completed her schooling at Murikkadi School, and Chottupara GLP. She studied Plus Two in Tamil Nadu.

She joined Thiruvananthapuram Govt. Women's College to pursue her graduation. Her main subject was Mathematics.

She was grappling with language issues as she was neither fluent in Malayalam nor English but it was the memory of her mother's face that kept her going.

She gradually solved her her language problem and completed her degree and also obtained her M.Sc. from University College. She then pursued B.Ed from MG University centre in Kumily and passed her M.Ed and M.Phil with the first rank from Thycaud Govt. College of Teacher Education in Thiruvananthapuram.

She is currently pursuing a PhD in Mathematics. She also cleared the UGC NET exam. Her biggest dream is to pursue a career in civil service and she is determined to work hard for it.
