When Ghosh wanted to address an on-campus meeting in February 2020, she was denied permission by two state-run universities in Kolkata. She was also not allowed by a district administration in West Bengal to hold a rally in West Burdwan.

The notice that called her protest “an act of indiscipline and misconduct” sought an explanation on why disciplinary action should not be initiated against her.

Aishe Ghosh will be contesting the election from Jamuria seat. She will be the first sitting JNUSU President to contest the polls.

The incident allegedly occurred on Saturday when the security guards were trying to vacate the Communication and Information Services Centre occupied by the students to hamper registration for the winter examinations.
