Who Was Alexandra Djavi, The Russian Actor-Model Found Dead In Goa?

Alexandra had previously accused a Chennai photographer of harassing her for sexual favours in 2019.

Who was Alexandra Djavi: A Russian woman named Alexandra Ri-Djavi, who had appeared in the Tamil film Kanchana 3, was found dead at her rented apartment near Siolim in North Goa on Thursday evening. She was 24. The young actor-model was found hanging, however no suicide note was found. In a separate incident, another Russian woman was also found dead in her rented apartment in North Goa on Friday. Police, however, said that the two deaths were not related.

The deceased actor has been identified as Alexandra Ri-Djavi or famously known in the industry as Ally Ri Djavi. According to police sources, the Kanchana 3 actor was in Goa on a tourist visa and was sharing her apartment with her boyfriend. The cause of death in the case is yet to be ascertained since the autopsy report is awaited, police officials said. The 24-year-old Russian woman, according to the local police, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her rented home on August 19 while the door was locked from inside. After the preliminary investigation, it is suspected that she might have died by suicide, however, police officials said that only post mortem reports can confirm the cause of death.

The other Russian woman who was found dead on August 19 was Ekaterina Titova, whose body was discovered in her bed at 7: 20 in the evening on Thursday, August 19. Not much is know about Titova as of yet, regarding her occupation or family. Her body too has been sent for a post-mortem and further course of the investigation depended on the findings from it, as per the police. No external injuries were found on her body in the preliminary investigation.

Titova was reportedly consuming alcohol till early Thursday morning with a female friend, after which she went to bed. When her friend got no response from the deceased on Thursday evening she opened the door of her bedroom and found her lying motionless.

A 47-year-old Russian man Denis Kriuchkoy has been arrested for allegedly killing 34-year-old Ekaterina Titova in Siolim village Goa as per the Police. As per the post mortem report by Goa Medical College and Hospital there was foul play. Kriuchkov on being questioned confessed to killing the woman the PTI reported.

Who was Alexandra Djavi?

Djavi was a model and had featured in a Tamil film. In Kanchana 3, Djavi played the character Rosy who later turns into a revenge-seeking ghost. Released in 2019, the film was directed by Raghava Lawrence, who also played the main lead in the horror thriller. Djavi also featured in Kadhal Oru Vizhiyil song alongside the leading Tamil star.

Two years back, in a complaint, she had alleged that a photographer from Chennai tried to blackmail her and sought sexual favours. Earlier in 2019, she had lodged a complaint against him for alleged sexual harassment, after which he was arrested.  Police officials, however, said the that case is still being investigated. They also said that the case does not seem to be linked to the model's death, based on the investigation so far. More here.

The Russian national's body has been preserved at the Goa Medical College in Bambolim. Goa Police had also informed the Russian Embassy to appoint formal representatives to process medico-legal formalities. Post mortem will be conducted soon after the family representative of the deceased gives consent.

There are several Russians who have settled in this state and are engaged in business activities. Charter flights from Russia come directly to Goa during the travel season. The tourism industry has taken a big blow during the pandemic.
