Shyja, a 35-year-old woman from Kerala, unusually challenges gender stereotypes. She displays her gorgeous moustache with pride. Shyja's moustache according to her, is her most attractive feature, despite facial hair in women often being seen negatively. Shyja proudly exclaims, "I adore my moustache."

Who Is Shyja?

People who view her images or get in touch with her in person frequently ask her questions about her unique trait, but Shyja, claims she is unconcerned by them. She has garnered both praise and jeers for this unique appearance of her that she proudly flaunts.

Like many women, the woman from Kerala's Kannur district had facial hair on her top lip and body hair on her torso. Women have natural body and facial hair, and they are frequently advised to remove it. Shyja, on the other hand, continued to thread and tweeze her brows but never felt the need to wax the hair on her upper lip.

Shyja reportedly said, "I've never felt that I'm not beautiful because I have this or that it's something I shouldn't have." She was wearing a tash, and many people didn't like that. She also received trolls for her decision. People have advised her that women shouldn't have moustaches because they are worn by guys, she claimed. However, Shyja believes that it is up to her to choose "what to keep and what not to" and that it is her decision.

Shyja claims that she can no longer survive without her facial hair. Everyone had to wear a mask when the COVID-19 pandemic started, which Shyja found annoying. Shyja's friends and family have remained her steadfast supporters despite the many people who have questioned and ridiculed her. The source of her greatest confidence is her daughter, who compliments her mother for her uniqueness.

Her attitude is partially influenced by the health issues she has experienced throughout the years. In the past ten years, she has undergone six surgeries, including a hysterectomy five years ago and procedures to remove ovarian cysts and breast lumps. "Each time I came out of surgery, I would hope that I never had to go back into an operation theatre again," she told reporters.
