An Indian woman of Pakistani origin named Qamar Mohsin Shaikh made news when she sent Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi a rakhi on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan 2022, wishing him good health and success in his political career.

On Sunday, PM Narendra Modi got a rakhi from Shaikh along with a letter from the Pakistani woman in which she expressed her best wishes for his health and success in the next 2024 Lok Sabha elections. She added that she has made all the necessary preparations and that she will meet PM Modi this time.

Qamar Mohsin Shaikh was reported by ANI as adding, " I hope he (PM Modi) will call me Delhi this time. I have done all the preparations. I made this rakhi by myself by using a Reshmi ribbon with embroidery design." She went on to say that she has no doubts about PM Modi's being re-elected as India's Prime Minister. She said, "He will certainly serve as prime minister once more." She concluded, "Since of his capabilities, he is worthy of this, and I want him to always remain India's prime minister."

Who is Qamar Mohsin Shaikh?

Pakistani-born Qamar Mohsin Shaikh moved to India after getting married. She has been a resident of India since then, and she has stated that she considers Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be her brother, which is why she sends him rakhi letters each year.
Every year for the past 25 to 30 years, according to Shaikh, she has tied a rakhi on PM Modi on Raksha Bandhan. She claims that the two share a relationship comparable to that of a brother and sister.

In her interview with ANI, Qamar Mohsin Shaikh delved deep into her memory and revealed that she first celebrated Raksha Bandhan with Narendra Modi when he was a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Since then, she has sent him a rakhi and a letter on the occasion.

India celebrates Raksha Bandhan as a festival to honour the relationship between a brother and sister. Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the last day of the Hindu lunar month of Shravana, which frequently falls in the month of August. This year, Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on August 11, 2022.
