Namita Thapar is the head and the executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, an Indian global pharmaceutical company which is in Pune, Maharashtra. She is a prominent businesswoman in India. She is well-known in the business world, but she rose to fame as a Shark Tank India investor.

Thapar is a judge/investor in a reality show named Shark Tank India. The show is a corporate reality television show in the United States that analyses and evaluates new company models and ideas before investing by juries. The same format was recently introduced in India as well. Thapar as the investor has created much buzz on social media as she inspired many memes and viral tweets. As the judge, Thapar listens to candidates pitching to get investment for their ventures and then decides if she would invest in it or not. 

Namita Thapar was born in Pune. Vikas Thapar is her husband, and they have two sons, Vir Thapar and Jai Thapar. She went to a school in Pune, Maharashtra, and later earned a chartered accounting degree from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). Namita went on to Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, where she obtained an MBA and a bachelor's degree.

Her Professional Life

After six years with Guidant Corporation in the United States, Thapar joined Emcure as CFO. She is now Emcure Pharmaceuticals' Executive Director. She is also a member of the regional advisory council at the Fuqua School of Business in India. She is also a committed member of the Young Presidents Organisation. She speaks frequently at important venues such as Harvard Business School, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM A), the ET Women's Conference, FICCI, and others, in addition to her work.

She started a YouTube channel called Unconditional Yourself with Namita, where she talks about the importance of female empowerment. Incredible Ventures Ltd, an academic organisation that provides business training, is founded and led by Thapar.

Namita Thapar is employed by the Indian government. She is active in several government initiatives, including the NITI Aayog's "Women's Entrepreneurship Platform," the "Digital Health Task Force," and the "Champions of Change." Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated these initiatives to promote G2B collaboration in policymaking.

Namita Thapar founded Incredible Ventures Ltd because she has always been interested in young entrepreneurs. It is an education company that teaches entrepreneurship to 11 to 18-year-olds in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Chennai, and Ahmedabad.

The November issue of Forbes Asia, which highlighted these women who had developed a variety of methods that allowed their businesses to prosper despite the uncertainties of the new normal and three years of COVID-19, included three prominent Indian businesswomen together with 20 other Asian women. Namita Thapar is among one them. She wears many hats, including those of a business executive, entrepreneurship coach, reality show judge, and author. She is the executive director of Emcure Pharma and is responsible for the 61 billion rupees ($730 million) India business. states Forbes.
