Varun Dhawan has Vestibular Hypofunction

Vestibular Hypofunction is a condition that involves the inner ear‘s control of the balance of the body. Dhawan said, "Recently, I just shut down. I had this thing called Vestibular Hypofunction, where your balance goes off. But I just pushed myself so hard, especially during JugJugg Jeeyo shoot days.

Dhawan added, “We are just running in this race, nobody is asking why. I think there is a greater purpose for why we are all here. I am trying to find mine, and hopefully, people will find theirs.”

A few senior neurologists claim that the vestibular system inside the inner ear helps in sensing our head position in space relative to the body, and works in an integrated manner with the brain to maintain body position

According to doctors, Vestibular Hypofunction is a condition that can disbalance one side of the body or both. This can cause dizziness, postural instability, and extreme sweating. One side disbalance is called unilateral hypofunction and both sides are known as bilateral hypofunction.

The reason behind such conditions could be exposure to aminoglycoside antibiotics, autoimmune disease, congenital problems, trauma, superficial siderosis, idiopathic causes, and more. A few of the side effects could be oscillopsia, chronic vertigo-free dizziness, and issues with balance, walking and driving. Can also involve problems while reading signs when moving, trouble walking at night on uneven terrain, and impacts higher cognitive functions, spatial memory, and wayfinding.
