Twitter Pays Tribute To Lyricist Maya Govind On Her Passing Away

Twitter Pays Tribute To Maya Govind: Lyricist and poet Maya Govind succumbed to a long-term illness on 7 April 2022 in Mumbai. Her son told news agencies that she died in her sleep at home this morning at around 9:30 am. She had blood clots in her brain and had other health issues like urine infection. Her funeral is scheduled to take place after 3 pm. Her last rites will be performed at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle West in Mumbai.

She has written songs for films like Aarop, Jalte Badan, Sawan Ko Aane Do, Takkar, Pighalta Aasman, Daman, Main Khiladi Tu Anari Dalaal, Gaj Gamini, Ganga Ki Kasam, Razia Sultan, Yarana, Janta Ki Adalat, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam among others.

A lot of people have taken to Twitter to pay their tribute to the lyricist.

"She was known for her strangely contrasting lyrics. A sublime "Nainon mein darpan hai, darpan mei koyee... And the ridiculous "Chad Gaya oopar re, Atariya mei lautan kabootar re..gutar gutar.." #MayaGovind , lyricist, RIP", wrote journalist Madhavan Narayanan. 

Another Twitter user wrote, "one can say, she knew how to perform for the gallery and keep it satiated."

Twitter user Anish Mohanty said, "Maya Govind ji passes away. My introduction to her as a child were her books of poetry. Discovered the songs written by her much later. Had the good fortune of speaking to her last year a couple of times. She was not keeping well then"
