Here's Everything We Know About Charlize Theron's 'The Old Guard' Sequel

It's been nearly two years since The Old Guard debuted on Netflix. Fans of the popular drama will be pleased to learn that filming for the sequel will begin in the summer of 2022. Everything we know about The Old Guard 2, also known as The Old Guard Chapter Two: Force Multiplied, is included here.

The Old Guard, starring Charlize Theron, is a superhero film in which she plays Andy, an immortal warrior who has influenced history for ages.  KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Harry Melling, Veronica Ngo, and Chiwetel Ejiofor also feature in the thriller, which follows a group of immortal mercenaries on a quest for revenge.

The Old Guard, directed by Gina Prine-Bythewood, premiered on the streaming platform on July 10, 2020. The film was based on Greg Rucka's comic book series. Critics praised the action sequences and Theron's acting, and it earned mostly excellent reviews.

The sequel film will adapt the second instalment of the Force Multiplied comic book series. Victoria Mahoney is directing the sequel, which is now in pre-production.

The Old Guard 2: Filming, Production, Release

A Variety report quoted the crew of the film, "Cameras were supposed to start rolling in the first quarter of 2022. That plan, however, did not pan out."

Recent reports hinted that the film was supposed to begin filming in June and mentioned that the film has been in production for the majority of 2022's first five months. Some of the sequences will be shot in the United Kingdom, according to other production sources.

The official synopsis says, "Andromache of Scythia and her troop of soldiers return in this sequel to their questionable immortality's conflicts and duties. The addition of Nile to the squad has given them a fresh sense of purpose and direction, but when you've got 6,000 years of history on your side, the past is always ready to resurface—with a vengeance."

The release date of the film has been anticipated by fans, but there has been no official confirmation from the makers. According to reports, the film will be released in 2023 at the earliest, based on the production schedule stated above.
