Shikha Srivastava, Raju Srivastava passes away
Comedian Raju Srivastava died on Wednesday at the age of 58, his family confirmed. The comedian passed away after 41 days of hospitalisation. He was admitted to AIIMS Delhi on August 10 after he complained of chest pain and collapsed while working out at a gym.

According to media reports, he suffered an infection after the cardiac arrest. Since then, only his wife had been allowed to meet him with proper precautions. Earlier this month, she told Bombay Times, “The medical team is doing their best and we all want your prayers, so that he recovers and is back with us.”

Who is Shikha Srivastava

Srivastava married Shikha from Lucknow on 1 July 1993. The couple knew each other for 12 years before tying the knot. They have two children together – Antara and Ayushman. Shikha appeared on television with her husband when they both participated in the dance reality show Nach Baliye 6. However, they were eliminated in just a couple of weeks.

In a recent interview, Shikha had spoken out about her husband’s health.

“He was doing his routine exercise and while he was on the treadmill, he suddenly fell down. He suffered a heart attack and was immediately taken to the AIIMS hospital.”

Srivastava has been active in the entertainment industry since the 1980s but catapulted to fame after participating in the first season of the reality stand-up comedy show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2005. He is also known for his film appearances such as Maine Pyar Kiya, Baazigar, Bombay to Goa and Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya. He was also of the contestants of reality show Bigg Boss season, which was then hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. The comedian was quite popular among audiences and housemates alike.

Srivastava also served as the chairman of the Film Development Council of Uttar Pradesh until his death.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his condolences to the family and admirers of the late comedian and tweeted: “Raju Srivastava brightened our lives with laughter, humour and positivity. He leaves us too soon but he will continue to live in the hearts of countless people thanks to his rich work over the years. His demise is saddening.”
