The image had been originally shared by the actor herself. However, it was the added caption that earned the user who had shared in the micro-blogging site, that has upset many.

Subhash, who is known to have worked in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films. She made her debut in 2010 with a film titled Porki. The Hindi film viewing audience might know her from films like Hungama 2 and Bhuj: The Pride of India.

  • On the day of Bheemana Amavasya, women observe a fast and pray for the long life of the male members in their house.
  • Pranitha Subhash took to Twitter and shared a picture of her and her husband celebrating the Bheemana Amavasya festival.
  • In the viral image, she was sitting on the ground at her husband’s feet performing a ritual.
  • The image received more than 52,000 likes and was retweeted more than 4,000 times.
  • A Twitter user, however, shared the photograph with the caption, “Marry a girl who can do this for you”.
  • A user replied to the Tweet and wrote, “Women are just fooled in the name of culture and tradition which is deeply patriarchal and discriminatory. Any rational woman should stand up to her rights and respect.” The user described it as “absolutely regressive” and called it “unsettling”.
