Disney Plus Hotstar's popular crime thriller Criminal Justice is the official remake of the British series of the same name, written by Peter Moffat and released in 2008. The Hindi remake of the show recently released its season 3 on OTT, which starred Pankaj Tripathi, Shweta Basu Prasad, Purab Kohli and Tripti Sahu.

Criminal Justice is one of OTT's most popular Hindi crime thriller series. The audience immensely loves Pankaj Tripathi's portrayal of Madhav Mishra, a lawyer who takes up hopeless cases to ensure justice is delivered. The show has aired for three seasons and starred actors like Kirti Kulhari, Vikrant Massey, Jackie Shroff, Deepti Naval, Jisshu Sengupta and Supriya Goenka. The series is based on the award-winning British series titled Criminal Justice that aired between 2008 and 2009. Here's All You Should Know About Criminal Justice British Original

Criminal Justice British original released its first season on June 30, 2008, on BBC One, which was five episodes long and ran for five consecutive days. The story revolves around a young man whose night out with a stranger woman goes awry when he is accused of her murder. His drunken state and drug consumption do not help much and make him the suspect, but his barrister believes him and does all he can to help him get justice. The show starred Ben Whishaw, Vineeta Rishi, Pete Postlethwaite and Ruth Negga in pivotal roles.

The second season starred Maxine Peake, Mathew Macfayden, Alice Sykes, Zoe Telford and Sophie Okonedo and aired on BBC One from October 5 to October 9. The story of this season was centred around an isolated and domestically abused wife of a successful barrister who stabs him to death and is arrested by the police. However, she is adamant about proving her innocence and her husband's wrongdoings while safeguarding her 13-year-old daughter. 

Season one of the show got five British Academy Television Awards nominations and won two of them. It also got six nominations for the Royal Television Society Awards and won three. The second season was awarded an International Emmy Award and British Academy Television Award in 2009. The story was adapted into various languages: Criminal Justice in Hindi, One Ordinary Day in Korean, and A Really Long Night in French. HBO also released an American mini-series based on it titled The Night Of in 2016.
