Slow Pace, Great Performance: Twitter Impressed By The Depth Of 'Ariyippu'

Ariyippu is a Malayalam drama film that stars Kunchacko Boban, Divya Prabha, Danish Husain, Loveleen Mishra and Athulya Ashadam in important roles. The movie had its premiere at the 75th Locarno Film Festival on August 4, 2022, and it was recently released on Netflix for a worldwide audience.

Ariyippu is the fourth directorial project of Mahesh Narayanan who has earlier directed films like CU Soon, Take Off and Malik. The critically acclaimed director will again be taking the audience on an emotionally moving and awakening journey through this 2022 film. The movie is set during the time of the Covid-19 pandemic and follows the life of a Malayali couple working together in a factory in Noida. The couple looks forward to migrating out of the country in hope of a different and better life but their dreams and relationship get in trouble when a sensitive clip is circulated among their factory co-workers.

Ariyippu Twitter Reviews

The film had a worldwide OTT release on Netflix on December 16 and the reviews of the film are positive. A Twitter user appreciated the story and the performance of the cast and wrote, "Slow pace story with a great performance from Kunchacko boban and Divyaprabha. Felt very live and different, another good content oriented film from Mahesh Narayanan"

Another user who watched the film wrote, "I really liked the opening scenes with the torches and stuff, it's sitting there in my hard drive begging me to watch it. Btw did you see Ariyippu my parents wants to watch it and it's by Mahesh Narayanan so it might be good." A Twitter user liked the film but also had a special not for director Narayanan and wrote, "Ariyippu - once again Mahesh Narayanan proves his versatility in making something very arthouse. Personally I prefer him being mainstream or at least middle of the road than going this far parallel, as Anurag kashyap would advice, at least go diagonal like Malayankunju, Malik.."

Though some of them found that the movie could have done better like this user who wrote, "@maheshNrayan I really admire your work as a director and believe that #Ariyippu movie has the potential to be even better. I hope that in the future, you will continue to create meaningful films like this one more engaging". Another one wrote, "Watched #Ariyippu on #NetflixIndia . Too slow for my taste and I also think it could have been handled much better."
