Women's Indian Premier League Dates

The inaugural Women's IPL season is expected to run from March 3 to 26, while IPL 2023 is scheduled to start on April 1. The season will start a week after the T20 World Cup finals in South Africa.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, the cricket body BCCI is working on the availability of overseas players before concluding the dates for the league.

Women's IPL season one is supposed to have five franchises playing a total of 22 games. All teams will have 18 players each in the squad, including a maximum of six overseas players. In the set team of 11 players, a team can have a maximum of five overseas players only. This will include four Full Member nations and one Associate nation. After all the matches, teams at number two and three in the points table will play the eliminator, with the final game will be played on March 26.

BCCI earlier submitted a strategy for the WIPL in October of this year. The plan was approved at the board's Annual General Meeting. BCCI will move on with the process of inviting bids for the five franchises. BCCI has two plans for the WIPL, in contrast to the men's IPL. This will allow franchises to bid for teams in a certain city.

The first one involved selling teams throughout six different zones of the nation. Dharamsala/Jammu (North zone), Pune/Rajkot (West), Indore/Nagpur/Raipur (Central), Ranchi/Cuttack (East), Kochi/Visakhapatnam (South), and Guwahati are among the cities in each zone that have been shortlisted (North-East). The second consists of selling teams with no stable home base and scheduling games at six IPL locations that have been shortlisted as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai.
