Yubrani Banerjee and Malikaa Marathe won their respective semi-final matches to progress to the finals of the Girls’ Rendez-Vous à Roland-Garros at the RK Khanna Tennis Complex, DLTA, New Delhi on Tuesday.
West Bengal’s Yubrani clinched the semi-final match against Radhika Yadav in three sets, after having defeated Prathiba Narayan with a scoreline of 7-5, 6-1 in the quarterfinal match held on Monday. Yubrani looked in fine form after her quarter-final win and continued to show her immense talent in the semi-final today. Yubrani did well to win the two set with some constant pressure on her opponent, which resulted in her winning the game.

Whereas, in the second semi-final, it was Maharashtra’s Malikaa Marathe who defeated Prerna V Vichare to progress to the final of the tournament. In her Quarterfinal match held yesterday, Malikaa had produced some marvellous tennis to beat Smriti Singh with a scoreline of 6-1, 6-3.
Meanwhile, it was Rishabh Sharda, Siddhant J Bhantia, Dipin Wadhwa and Abhimanyu Vannemreddy who qualified for the semifinals in the boy’s category. Chandigarh’s Rishabh Sharad became the first of the four quarter-finalists in the boy’s category as he beat Atharva Sharma with a scoreline of 6-2, 6-2. Maharashtra’s Siddhant J Bhantia was the second to qualify, followed by Dipin Wadhwa and Abhimanyu Vannemreddy.

Rendez-Vous à Roland-Garros culminates on Wednesday which will see the boys and girls vying for the coveted ticket to Paris to participate in the wild card qualifiers of the Junior French Open Championship. There will also be a play-off match for the 3rd position in both the boys’ and girls’ category which will take place before the finals.
