India (169/9) crushed Pakistan (74 all out in 38.1 overs) by 95 runs to register third successive win in the tournament in the ICC Women's World Cup.
Ekta Bisht changed the game, taking 5 wickets, helping India put up a fantastic innings and record their third successive victory in the ICC Women's World Cup. The total was just 169, but the bowling attack by the left spinner left Pakistan with little options.
Ekta's 5 for 18 is the best by an Indian bowler in World Cup. Before Ekta, Purnima Choudhary claimed 5 for 21 against West Indies in the 1997 World Cup.
India now have six points from three games and are at the top of the table. Indian skipper Mithali Raj held India's scoring ground after it lost star batswoman Smrita Mandhana early.
With this win, the ladies in blue have an unbeaten record against Pakistan in ODIs. They have won all 10 matches that they have played against their arch-rivals.
Ekta Bisht bagged the Player-of-the Match award for her 5 for 18 stellar bowling performance.
Indian skipper Mithali Raj praised Ekta for her performance.
"I am proud of Ekta's performance. Whenever she has been handed the new ball, she has performed. There were some anxious moments when we lost the top-order (while batting). The partnership between Sushma Verma and Jhulan Goswami towards the end was also important. When we got to a total of 169, I knew that if we could bowl well, it could be anybody's game," said Mithali.
