Women rescued from self confinement

In a piece of shocking news from Andhra Pradesh, it was reported that two women who had confined themselves in their home in Kuyuru village of the Kakinada district had to be rescued by authorities after their health condition deteriorated. The mother-daughter duo did not step out of the house due to the fear of contracting the virus. They also did not allow any visitors inside. The woman's spouse provided them with all the food and outside supplies. However, the woman and her 21-year-old daughter's health started declining lately, and her spouse informed the hospital authorities about it.

It's said that both the mother and daughter are dealing with some psychological issues. The incident became known on Tuesday after the woman's spouse informed the local medical offer and the Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM) visited their house. The district medical officer Dr M Santhi Prabha told the media that the couple had been suffering from chronic disease as well and have been getting treated for it. "They have also been receiving psychiatric treatment, however, the daughter follows the mother and behaves differently."

The medical team faced resistance from the woman since she and her daughter did not open the door to the team. However, after a long struggle and the spouse's assurance, they let them enter the house. Both women are currently being treated at the government hospital and being given counselling as well.

This is not the first time such an incident has come to light. In July 2021, a report came from the Godavari district in the state where three women had gone into the self-confinement mode for about fifteen months due to the fear of getting the virus.
