A 22-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a bike taxi driver and his friend in Bengaluru, after she had hired the service to get dropped at a friend's place, police said on Tuesday. Following a complaint, the police said three persons, including a woman, were arrested.
In her complaint, the 22-year-old rape survivor, who belongs to Kerala, claimed that she was at a friend's house on Friday before booking a bike taxi to visit another friend at around midnight. According to the police, the woman was drunk when she booked a bike on the ride-sharing application. The driver took the woman to her destination but she was not in a condition to get off the bike.
Bengaluru city police commissioner CH Pratap Reddy said, “Noticing that the woman was inebriated, the driver took her to his home where he and his friend raped her.”
Woman Raped By Bike Taxi Driver
According to police sources, the woman is a freelance designer and had availed a bike taxi from her friend’s place to go to another friend's house on Friday night, November 25. She was reportedly in an inebriated state.
Taking advantage of the situation, the driver took the woman to his house where another woman was already present. Sometime later, an associate of the driver also joined the two. According to the rape survivor's complaint, both men took turns raping her.
According to The Indian Express, the police added that the next day, one of the accused called up the woman’s friend and cooked up a story that she was given shelter after she had fallen unconscious. The woman’s friend believed in the accused’s version and took her to his home
Later, the woman complained of terrible body ache and made her way to St John's Hospital where the doctors examined her and informed the police.
According to police, out of the two accused- one was a bike driver and the other worked at a mobile store. One accused had a criminal case against him in the past.
