Last year in September, Bengali actor and Trinamool Congress (TMC) politician Mimi Chakraborty flagged the issue of being harassed and facing abuse by a cab driver. She was in her own chauffeur-driven car in the afternoon when a taxi driver adjacent to her winked and made lewd gestures at her. Instead of ignoring the harassment, she reportedly stopped her car and confronted the man. He was arrested soon after.
Earlier this year in April, a driver of an app-based cab was accused of sexually harassing and attacking a woman passenger at night. According to The Hindu, After he began behaving inappropriately with her, she jumped out of the car and began screaming for help. The driver tried to force her back in but fortunately, the cab was nearby her drop location and her friends saved her.
