Mumbai: Neighbours Help Rescue Woman After She Falls Off Fifth Floor Balcony

The 21-year-old woman named Raziya Khan, a resident of Nalasopara, fell from her balcony on the fifth floor after feeling dizzy. She managed to hold onto the grille of the flat below. The residents of the flat on the fourth floor along with other residents in the building held onto her for 30 minutes until the firemen arrived to rescue her..

Woman falls off balcony: Alert neighbours help with rescue

Khan was standing on her balcony which did not have any grills. She fell off the balcony of her flat and grabbed onto the grilled balcony on the fourth floor. The residents of the building and her family were alerted by the woman’s screaming.

The occupants of the fourth floor managed to hold onto her through the grille and called the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) fire brigade. Four firemen from the Sriprastha fire station reached the building and then broke the iron grille using a grinder.

According to eyewitnesses, the residents of the building tied Khan with rope to ensure that she would not fall from the fourth floor. Residents of the building held onto Khan and made a makeshift seating arraignment for her.

Khan spoke to the firemen who rescued her and informed them she had a fear of heights. The police has now advised the residents to cover the balcony with grilles to ensure their safety and avoid further incidents.

In a similar incident, a woman survived a fall from the balcony of her ninth-floor flat in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh and a video of it went viral. In the video, she can be seen holding the hand of her husband as she hangs from the balcony. Reportedly, she attempted to jump after climbing over the railing. Her husband managed to hold onto her for around three minutes, during that time other residents placed a mattress below her. She was saved by the mattress and was taken to the hospital.
