According to reports, the 41-year-old accountant got sick on December 8, 2019. He developed fever and other symptoms of the virus on December 16 after many workers of the Huanan marker were already showing symptoms of the virus including the female seafood seller. She reportedly developed symptoms on December 11.

The man used to live 30 kilometers from the marker and no other connection to it. He is expected to have developed infection through community transmission after the coronavirus started to spread in Wuhan, head of ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Arizona in Tucson,Michael Worobey , and other author of a study said.

Michael Worobey in his research suggests that the Huanan market was the source of the very first outbreak and also the place where CoV-2 virus amplified.

There is no scientific proof to determine the origins of SARS-CoV-2. Many experts have debated about its genesis. There are two competing ideas around it. First one is that the virus escaped a laboratory or a spillover from animals. Since live animals susceptible to infection were known to be sold in wet markets of Wuhan, the coronavirus found in bats in limestone saves in northern Laos and in Cambodia support the hypothesis.

The in-famous Huanan market was reportedly disinfected on January 1 and no live mammals collected from the market or any other similar location in Wuhan have been screened for SARS-CoV-2-related viruses. Worobey said, "Nevertheless, that most early symptomatic cases were linked to Huanan Market -- specifically to the western section where raccoon dogs were caged -- provides strong evidence of a live-animal market origin of the pandemic."

According to reports, it may never be possible to recover COVID related viruses from the animals since they were not tested as the pandemic emerged. Worobey said, "Preventing future pandemics depends on this effort."
