Who Is Yasuko Tamaki? The World's Oldest Office Manager At 90

Yasuko Tamaki from Japan was certified as the world's oldest office manager by Guinness World Records on April 8. She has been working in the same company since 1956.

The 90-year-old Yasuko Tamaki from Japan received the Guinness World Records certificate for being the world’s oldest office manager.

Born on May 15, 1930, Yasuko Tamaki has been working at Sunco Industries since 1956. Like all staff members, Yasuko works 5 days a week for 7.5-hour shifts.

When Yasuko was asked about how she manages to still work at her age, she stated that “I think it's just an accumulation. I always thought that I was born to be of help to someone. So I want to do things that make chairman, managers and other staff happy. That remains my lifelong goal."

Who Is Yasuko Tamaki?

  1. Yasuko Tamaki works at Sunco Industries, a trading company that specialises in screws. She has worked at the company for more than 60 years.
  2. The trading company was established in 1948, and Yasuko joined the staff eight years later and continues working there.
  3. Yasuko works on office accounts. Her duties include calculating the staff’s salaries, staff’s bonuses, and calculating tax deductions.
  4. While at the certificate presentation, she told her colleagues that “if you waste today, then there is no tomorrow.”
  5. Yasuko also stated that retirement has not crossed her mind yet. She stated “Once a year ends, then there is another. So I hope to keep on going like that.”

Other Guinness World Record holders in the “oldest” category include Minne Munro from Australia. Minnie Munro holds the title of the oldest recorded bride as she got married in 1991 at the age of 102. The title for the oldest recorded actress is held by Jeanne Louise Calment from France, who was in the film Vincent and Me at the age of 114. The title for the oldest recorded gymnast is held by Johanna Quaas, whose record was certified in 2012 when she was 86-years-old.
