Pooja Veerashetty is making headlines for making an aggressive and explosive statement amidst the ongoing Hijab row. The video of the speech has now gone viral and cops have filed a case against the teen.

Pooja Veerashetty allegedly called for Muslim genocide during a gathering in Vijayapura district where people had come out to protest the murder of a Bajrang Dal member.

In a video that went viral last week, Veerashetty is cited as stating, “If you ask for water, Indians will give you juice. If you ask for milk, we’ll give you buttermilk. But, if you want the hijab all over India, we will chop you all with Shivaji’s sword.”

Veerashetty reportedly said this in the presence of Additional Superintendent of Police Ram L Arasidi and Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kalasad. The Karnataka police has filed a case against her in this regard.

Who Is Pooja Veerashetty?

According to reports, Veerashetty is a 19-year-old teen who is an activist and an ABVP leader. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) is a student organisation that is linked with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

On February 25th, Friday, numerous verified individuals on Twitter published and criticised footage of ABVP leader Pooja Veerashetty purportedly pushing for open violence against Muslims.

According to the footage, which has gone viral on social media, she can be heard shouting for Muslim genocide during an event organised to condemn the recent murder of a Bajrang Dal member in Shivamogga.

In reference to the Hijab controversy, she had called for the elimination of Muslims. She asserted, will not allow Hindustan to become a hijab-wearing country.

People demanded action against her soon after the video went public, and police filed a complaint against her on February 27th. Since then, police have not provided any updates on the teen's arrest or any other information.

According to the New Indian Express, police in Gol Gumbaz filed a suo moto case against Veerashetty on February 27 under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including inciting religious hatred and criminal intimidation.

Meanwhile, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad added in a media statement: “It doesn’t want to blow the statement out of proportion.”
