India's ruling political party, the BJP, has declared the name of one of its candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh. BJP has proclaimed the name of States General Secretary Kavita Patidar, daughter of BJP leader late Bherulal Patidar, as a Rajya Sabha candidate from Madhya Pradesh.
Kavita Patidar has been the Indore District Panchayat President before becoming the State General Secretary and at present, she is the BJP State General Secretary.
Three Rajya Sabha seats in the state are dropping unoccupied next month. Congress has stated the name of Vivek Tankha from Madhya Pradesh, while BJP completed the name of Kavita Patidar on Sunday evening, according to the current strength of MLAs. BJP is likely to get two seats and Congress one seat.

Who Is Kavita Patidar?
Late Bherulal Patidar, father of BJP candidate Kavita Patidar, has been a minister and speaker in the past. Simultaneously, she comes from the OBC category.
With inputs from the INAS, BJP has fielded finance minister Sitharaman and actor-turned-politician Jaggesh from Karnataka, while Kavita Patidar will contest from Madhya Pradesh. From Maharashtra, Union Minister Goyal and Anil Sukhdevrao Bonde have ruled themselves.
From Uttar Pradesh, the candidates contesting are Laxmikant Vajpayee, Radhamohan Aggarwal, Surendra Singh Nagar, Baburam Nishad, Darshana Singh and Sangeeta Yadav.
Bherulal Patidar (1941-2005) was a leader of Bharatiya Janata Party from Madhya Pradesh. He was the deputy speaker of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 1993 to 1998. He was a member of the assembly, elected four times from the Mhow constituency. Patidar served as a minister in the Government of Madhya Pradesh from 1990 to 1992.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced its list of sixteen candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections, which are scheduled to take place on June 10. It will hold polling for 57 seats spread across 15 states. These elections will be essential as they take place ahead of presidential elections due in July.
