Who is Jhanvi Behal and why is she making news?

Ludhiana student Jhanvi Behal is back in the news. Behal had challenged Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union president Kanhaiya Kumar to have an open debate with her in March this year. She has now said that she will be hoisting the national flag of India at Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Independence Day.

In a video shared by ANI, Jhanvi Behal is heard saying that she will hoist the tricolor at Lal Chowk where students and people had insulted the national flag of India by hoisting Pakistan’s flag.

"It's the place where students and other people insulted the national flag and also flew the flag of Pakistan, so I will go and hoist the tricolor right in front of them, let's see if they can stop me", the 15-year-old Ludhiana native Jhanvi Behal told ANI news agency.
