Rawat will be contesting from the seat where she has worked since 2017 and building good relationships with the residents in the place.

Who Is Anupama Rawat?

Anupama Rawat is the daughter of former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat who is set to contest upcoming elections to the legislative assembly in the state. Rawat will be contesting from the Haridwar (rural) seat. This is the same constituency from which her father belonging to Indian National Congress(INC) lost in the 2017 elections.

The 39-year-old Rawat is the National General Secretary of the All India Mahila Congress (AIMC). She announced her nomination on January 29, 2022, through her social media post. In 2017, she also assisted her father in building a connection with residents in the constituency of Haridwar(rural). Rawat holds a post-graduate law degree. One of the reasons why Harish Rawat chose to contest from the seat in 2017 was his daughter's quite a considerable amount of work from the area.

Anupama Rawat is a member of the Indian National Congress(INC) and will be contesting against the Bhartiya Janata Party's Swami Yatishwaranand who defeated her father five years back. Harish Rawat has shifted his base to the Lalkuan constituency in Uttarakhand in the 2022 elections.

In one of the interviews, Rawat mentioned how people of the constituency have realised that not electing her father has "not gone in their favour". She also added- "I am contesting with the hope that the people know which party and its workers are good for the welfare of the state"

Uttarakhand will go to poll in the upcoming state election in February 2022. The elections in the start will start on February 14, 2022, and the date of announcement of the final result is scheduled to be on March 10, 2022. The elections will be held to elect 70 members of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly.
