Vijaywada sexual assault case: A woman who reportedly works as a nurse in a private hospital of Vijaywada was allegedly sexually assaulted by two men on Pushkar Ghat of Krishna river in Guntur district on June 19, according to reports.
The nurse had gone to the river bank around 9 pm with her fiance in the evening when two unidentified men came and allegedly sexually assaulted her, as per the police. The accused persons tied up her partner. The police stated that the investigations are underway and a special team has been constituted for the case.

- The woman and her fiance visited the Tadepalli police station to file a complaint against the accused of the alleged sexual assault on the morning of June 20.
- The nurse was undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Guntur, according to reports.
- The accused persons had also reportedly taken away the cellphones from the couple before they fled the scene and left for Vijaywada on a boat.
- The police are suspecting the involvement of local men with a history of crime. The Blade batch gang, mentioned in a report by The Hindu, a gang of local men who use a blade to rob people of their belongings are the suspect in the case.
- The couple in their complaint was unable to give details about the accused persons' appearance. The police have reportedly initiated the investigation by forming a special team dedicated to the case.
- As per reports, four persons were brought to the police station for interrogation, police officials said.
- Vasireddy Padma, the Chairperson of Andhra Pradesh Women's Commission, condemned the incident. She urged the police officials to fast track the investigation of the case and offered assurance to the survivor's family that strict action will be taken against the people responsible for the crime.
