Gangrape accused kills sister to mislead investigation: The Amroha district police have arrested a 22-year-old man, who was accused of gangrape of a Dalit girl, in his sister's murder case. The accused allegedly killed his elder sister with the intention of framing the gangrape complainant and thus mislead the investigation.

On January 18, an FIR for kidnapping and gangrape of a Dalit girl was registered against unidentified persons. Later, the 22-year-old youth and his cousin were booked based on the victim’s statement.

According to the police, the accused, identified as Ankit, brought his sister from Delhi on the pretext of settling the gangrape case. On spotting an empty plot, Ankit allegedly hit his sister with a brick repeatedly and strangled her to death. He then went to a relative’s house where he dumped the bloodied clothes in a nearby bush.

The body of the 24-year-old woman pursuing her MBA from a private college in Meerut was recovered from the plot in a school under the Amroha Dehat police station limits. The accused had disfigured the face of the woman to conceal her identity. She was identified on the basis of an identity card lying nearby.

Amroha SP Suniti revealed, “CCTV footage showed the man going towards the crime spot. The accused was arrested late on Tuesday night." Further, the police said that Ankit had confessed to the crime. He also told the police that his sister had been working in Delhi for the last four years and that he visited her regularly.

A statement released by the police said that since Ankit could not find any way to save himself from his crime, he killed his own sister to frame the Dalit girl’s family for her murder, and settle the case.
